The Best Pies in Los Angeles

Philippe The Original
(
https://www.philippes.com/) is a Los Angeles landmark on the edge of downtown that offers a selection of delectable pies that they get from The Original Martino’s Bakery (https://www.martinosbakery.com/) - and the Pumpkin Cream and Custard pies were so good, we had to check out the source of these delicious pies. So if you’re looking for a satisfying meal with a slice of pie, go to Philippe’s, and if you’re looking to make out like a bandit in delicious pies and baked goods that have also stood the test of time, visit Martino’s Bakery.

The Pie Hole (https://www.thepieholela.com/) - With multiple locations throughout Southern California, including several in Los Angeles, The Pie Hole is well worth a visit. The menu is seasonal so be sure to check out the website to see what’s new. Some of our personal favorite flavors are the Butterscotch Banana Pie and Earl Grey Tea Pie.

KnowRealityPie (http://www.knowrealitypie.com/). This small pie shop in Eagle Rock is award-winning, so make sure to check out their offering of an ever-changing menu of unique pies, like Blood Orange Blueberry or Cherub (Cherry Rhubarb). But the pies are only available in limited quantities, so get the flavors you want while you can!

Republic of Pie (https://www.republicofpie.com/) If you ever want to sit and relax with some coffee and pie, this pie shop in North Hollywood has a tranquil ambiance with occasional live music to enjoy. This is a great spot if you favor more traditional pie flavors in addition to the breakfast, brunch, and lunch served.

Atticus Creamery & Pies (http://www.atticusinla.com/) Try a selection of their delicious mini pies, with plentiful a la mode ice cream options. Remember to snap a few pictures for Instagram because these tiny pies are as adorable as they are tasty.

Friends & Family (http://www.friendsandfamilyla.com/) Check for availability; pie is not always on their menu, but when it is - it’s worth a taste. They have fantastic seasonal pies, like Cherry Slab Pie in the summer and Chocolate Chess Pie during the holidays.

Sweet Red Peach (https://www.sweetredpeach.com/) Stop by this Inglewood treasure for your sweet tooth needs and try their “Lemon Lush” Pie if it’s available or stick with their delicious twists on traditional Sweet Potato and Pecan pies. Or indulge yourself with their decadent cake and cheesecake options, as well as some outstanding cobblers.

Birdie G’s (https://www.birdiegsla.com/) Their amazing World Famous Rose Petal Pie is gorgeously instagrammable and perfectly scrumptious. This Santa Monica restaurant opens at 5pm making it a wonderful choice to eat a phenomenal dinner and have a cocktail or skip right to dessert. If you don’t want to wait, a reservation is strongly suggested.

Winston Pies (https://www.winstonpies.com/) This West LA pie shop offers a tasty selection, including a Caramel Chess Pie and a refreshing Orchard Peach and Nectarine for the summer months. If you are ordering pies for an event, take note of the variety of sizes these delectable pies can come in, including bite size nibbles, mini pies, and an 11 inch deep dish size that feeds up to 12 people.

Jones Hollywood (http://www.joneshollywood.com/) Knocking it out of the park with a classic comfort food dessert, this West Hollywood restaurant’s dessert menu includes the Jones Famous Apple Pie For Two, which - to quote their menu - is, “A decadent slice of Jones Apple Pie served on a sizzling platter in a brown sugar sauce with a scoop of Vanilla bean ice cream, big enough to share.” So make sure you save some room for this warm and hearty dessert.

Du-pars Restaurant and Bakery (http://www.dupars.net/Store/bakery/) Not to be confused with their restaurant menu, make sure you order some pie from their bakery. They have classics like a traditional Green Apple Pie (which you can order with a slice of melted cheddar cheese on top if you’d like), or a delicious Rhubarb. They also have meringues and cream pies, like their swoon-worthy Blueberry Cream Pie.

Shabazz Bakery (http://shabazzbakery.com/) For healthier takes on pies, this Inglewood bakery uses only honey and beet sugars - no unnatural preservatives. They also offer hard-to-find flavors like their world famous Honey Bean Pie or their savory Carrot Pie.

Pie ‘N Burger (http://pienburger.com/) This Pasadena diner is a blast from the past and offers classic burgers and mouth-watering meringues, as well as other great pies. The Butterscotch Meringue is a particularly special treat.

The Apple Pan (https://theapplepan.com/) You know the pie is good when the place has earned notoriety and a page on Wikipedia - “The Apple Pan is a restaurant (opened in 1947) locally famous for its hamburgers, apple pies served with vanilla ice cream, and banana cream pie. In addition to being one of Los Angeles' oldest continuing operating restaurants, The Apple Pan is notable as the basis for the popular Johnny Rockets chain of restaurants.” In addition to your sit down meal and dessert, perhaps grab some seasonal pie to go, if you get the chance. Their Boysenberry Cream Pie comes highly recommended. Important To Note: Get to this place early, though, as it fills up fast and generates quite the line. And make sure to bring enough cash, because this place accepts Cash Only.
